Love Frame....

Hi Everyone,

I'm starting a new Gallery Wall in the living room.... I have a few ideas for the wall and it may take a little while to have it completed so instead of waiting for the final reveal, I will show you what I'm creating as we go along.....

I bought this frame from the thrift shop last week. I had spotted it a week before and thought about it for a while. It was $6, a little steep, but I loved the pattern on the frame.
Once I had bought it and was on my way home I realised that the frame was so musty, I couldn't bring it inside the house....

I quickly primed it to stop the horrible musty smell and painted it white.....
Sean cut a piece of MDF to fit the back and I covered the wood with a piece of scrapbook paper...
Thinking a white shell in the middle?

I hated it!!!!!! It had to be changed... (don't you agree?)

I dry brushed a brown colour along the raised pattern to add some dimension...

I flipped the MDF over and glued 3 different pieces of scrapbook paper onto it - they kinda matched!
I added a painted shell with thread and a "love" wood flourish (love the wood flourishes you get by KaiserCraft)... and lightly varnished it all.....

I have to say I'm really happy the way my experiment worked out...

And it looks awesome up on the wall....

What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by....

  2. It's absolutely beautiful Nats! You are right, the three pieces of scrapbook paper match together beautifully. I also love the fact you added more white too with adding the shell and "love" wood flourish.

  3. It turned out great! I love it. I hadn't thought about using mdf as a backing...good thinking. I'm going to have to try this technique.
