Painted Jars - Inspired by the Beach

Hi Everyone,

You know how there are heaps of painted bottles and jars all over the blogosphere? Well I just love them!!!! And I love jars so you know I just had to give it a go!

I also wanted to create something "beachy" to fit in with my decor. Now that we are heading into the darkness of Winter (sob), I wanted a reminder of summer. So my jars are beach inspired....

What I did???
Take a jar (any jar) and pour paint into it.
Swirl the paint around until the glass is evenly coated and decant the rest back into the paint container.
Allow to dry overnight
I decorated my jars with beads and raffia, anything that looked like it would work....

And there you have a cool beach inspired jar!
The colours I used were turquoise, white and yellow. The turquoise and yellow - I mixed with a little white to give it a "milky" appearance......

I am super happy with them and have plans to convert many more of my jars....

Now to find a sun filled spot to display them...

Thanks for stopping by

10 Good Things About A Broken Leg

10 good things about having a broken leg (if you're a 7 year old boy...)

1. You can still battle like a Jedi.....

 2. Mum will make an awesome ice-cream cake for your birthday..... (with a Star Wars topper)

3. You can shoot your Nerf gun at everything and make everyone else pick up the bullets... All. Over. The. House!!!

4. Your parents will never leave your side.... (ie... they become your slaves...)

5. You can choose the colour of your cast..... bright green is best....

 6. You get stickers and lollipops just for having an x-ray

 7. You can watch t.v. and eat as much as you want......whenever you want...

8. All your buddies (aka... girls...) from school will write you letters... telling you that you are missed...

 9. Face painting, balloon guns and lollipops.... how much better can it get?

 10. Dad is allowed to write dumb things on your cast......

Now I'm not saying - go out and break your leg..... but.....

Its pretty cool when you're 7!!!

Catch the Sun

Hi Everyone,

Last week I needed to get my crafty mojo back - remember my self imposed Pinterest Craft Challenge, that I wrote about here? Well I have completed one of my projects and let me tell you - it has lifted my spirits and made me happy for days......

So this post is not so much a tutorial, more a photo shoot, that I hope inspires...

I raided my bead drawer for all the sparkly beads I had.
I used nylon line and crimps to secure the beads....

Then I just played around - the purpose was not to be perfect but to catch the sun.....

I made these sparkly sun-catchers on a stormy, rainy day and strung them up along the curtain rail

The early morning of the following day, the sun-catchers caught my eye. The kids were still asleep, Sean had left for work... it was just me and my coffee.....

If you know me well - you know I'm always on the go, rushing around and always tired. I think I miss out on a lot in terms of my children, I sometimes feel I'm spread a bit thin. And these past couple of weeks being housebound with Gabriel and his broken leg, I have had to take it slower, pay more attention to each child....and its been fantastic!

Don't get me wrong, Gabe needs around the clock care and is grumpy, sore and bored and it is hard! But this has been my chance to catch a bit of that sun! To spend time with my school going child who I don't see much of during the week.

When he has healed and back at school - I will miss this time that we have had together. And we will be back to racing through our weeks

A couple of days later, the morning sun caught the sun-catchers and we all stopped to watch the prisms and sparkles.....the kids were so excited....And it was a moment we spent together, happy, laughing and just being!

So seize the day... catch the sun.....don't let go of those moments....or they will be gone, lost to us forever....

Happy Monday

Did You Spot the Tooth Fairy?

Payton had a wiggly tooth last week.....And it got looser until it just had to come out on Wednesday evening....

Daddy "helped" wrap pink cotton thread around her little baby tooth...

One big pull and it was out....She was so brave....

Did you spot the Tooth Fairy waiting?????

She was there the whole time flying around waiting for her tooth.....

And to leave a little surprise and some fairy sparkles under Payton's pillow

My little girl is growing up.....

Beaded Hanging Pendant

Hi Everyone,

Is it possible to love a piece of homemade jewellery? Because I think I love my latest creation.....

I was rummaging in my bead drawer for something the other night and decided to make a pendant. I had no idea where I was going with it but I seriously loved every second of this project...

I made 4 "hanging" pieces that I looped together using a link from a link chain

I added a black cord and a bead to cover the cord loop

Then I had a little photo shoot....

Is it not adorable? Definitely my favourite piece by far...

See you again soon, take care
