Simple Statement Necklace

Hey Everyone,

This week I’m working with 6 other bloggers to bring you Spring Bling Week – a week of tutorials and resources on jewelry!  We’ll be wrapping up on Friday with an awesome giveaway, so be sure to come back all week!

Today I am going to show you all how to make this simple and sweet Statement Necklace and one of you will be in to win it too...

What you need for 1 necklace:
A minimum of 5 beads, long headpins, jump rings, a clasp, a charm, pliers and a chain (measured to the desired length).
Don't worry if you don't have pair of round nose pliers, you can use ordinary ones just fine.

What to do:

1. Thread a bead onto a long headpin and bend the headpin at a 90 degree angle.
2. Using the round nosed jewelry pliers bend the headpin back around to form a loop.
3. Twist the wire of the headpin around the loop.
4 - 5. Keep twisting around the loop, pulling the wire neatly in a circle
6. Grip the wire with the pliers and tuck and tighten the end. Repeat these steps for beads 1 to 4.
7. For the centre bead, make a loop in the headpin first, thread the bead on and repeat the above steps.
8. Gently uncurl the loop and add the charm

9. Attach the centre bead to the centre of the chain using a jump ring.

Then add the other beads onto either side of the centre bead at equal intervals.
Finish off the necklace with a clasp

They are so easy to make, I whipped up a couple more! I think the bronze one is my favourite and the pink one has already been claimed by Payton.

Sweet and easy statement necklace!
I really hope you enjoyed my tutorial and I hope I inspired you to try something new today

Cute Easter Chicks

Hey Everyone,

Easter is next weekend...can you believe it? Time is just flying at the moment and I admit to having to race to catch up lately...

I wanted to find an easy craft I could do with the kids, that wasn't messy and  didn't take forever. And while googling "kids Easter crafts" I found these adorable chicks at Paging Supermom

This is the easiest kids' craft EVER!!!

What you need:

Coloured card, googly eyes, craft glue and scissors.
Feathers optional.

What to do:
Cut a circle for the head. Cut a rectangle for the beak, and shape it into a triangle.
Glue the beak and eyes on.
Cut slits on each side of the head (if you want to make a banner, otherwise this step can be skipped)
And glue a feather onto the back of the head (optional)

 How adorable are they?
They look so worried..bless them
String them together (I used nylon line) and hang them up around the house.

From start to finish each chick took me about 5 minutes. And the kids loved making them too.

Its starting to look like Easter....

Take care everyone,

TONGUE IN CHEEK TUESDAY - JUNK IN OUR TRUNKS

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Today I am taking part in Tongue in Cheek Tuesday... Junk in our Trunks link party! My good blog buddies Mel from Mellywood's Mansion and Danni from Silo Hill Farm have twisted my arm encouraged me to share my junk, as they co-host with 3 other awesome bloggers...

Today I'm gonna show you my craft area...I'm usually a neat freak but lets just say...not so much at the moment!!!
We have a little house as I've mentioned before and my craft space is pretty much in full view of our everyday lives....

Right.... Jumping straight into the horror...

My craft cupboard....those drawers are full! But lets have a little looky at the crap on top...
My phone - yup thats fine. The Sky TV remote.... not the right place and dont know why its here.
A mouse and keyboard for Sean's computer and some computer stuff... dumped there by the man himself... Some projects I'm working on....Ugly!! An eyesore!!! Oh look my camera's instruction manual - yeah that's a great spot for it!

Right next to the craft cupboard... my beachy side table with my sewing machine stacked on top of it!
That book shoved down the side is my sewing machine's instruction manual. See a pattern here people???
Right next to the machine, a bucket of thread... and some beads balancing on top.... There's my little drawer system for storing my created jewelry pieces  and yes that's a princess crown on the floor! right next to the foot of the sewing machine is the cover for it... Hmmm.... not good!

Next stop... the dining table... not too bad I guess -there you can see my bead soup that I'm working on...
But lets look a little closer at the COMPUTER that's sitting on the table!!!! Its been there for 2 months! That's 8 WEEKS!!! What is the man doing????
And next to the computer a few power tools (under the yellow birthday card for Gabe). Grrrrrr....

Anyhoo.....right behind me is my storage chest...and yes that's sewing that's sitting there NOT being done, a storage box for said sewing, which is stacked in a cardboard box instead....I guess I've left it for now because I want to paint that chest soon. A bag of books and the box for the slip and slide all balancing on top! Nice!

Lets end the horror here shall we?... this is Gabe's entertainment centre - he has his gaming consoles in the cupboard and the computer.... but looky on the floor!

Sigh....I'm done...

 Take care everyone

Beaded Memory Wire Ring

Hey Everyone,

I shared this super easy memory wire ring a few weeks ago at My Favorite Finds.
Did you know I was a monthly contributor at My Favorite Finds? Well I am - you should check out Carrie's blog, its so awesome...and I'm there!!!

Okay so onto the ring...
What you will need:
Ring memory wire , beads of your choice, a blingy button and long nosed pliers. ( I also used jewelry pliers but if you don't have those, its no biggie)

What to do:
Cut a length of memory wire roughly the the number of times you want it to wrap around your finger.
Thread the button on first and position it in the middle of your ring.
Thread beads on one side until you're satisfied with how it looks, then loop the end to finish it off.
Continue on the other side of the button, cut off excess wire,  loop and end off.
I didn't worry how the ends looked, as long as they dont stab your finger when the ring is on.

So, so easy...

I have to admit that it's a little too blingy for me and when I do get around to making myself one, I'll use a more subtle button.

However it does look really cute on my friend's hand, don't you think?

I hope you have been inspired to try this super easy project today, it doesn't take up a lot of time and the end result is really rewarding especially if you're giving it as a gift.

 Take care everyone

Bead Soup Party

As some of you know, I am a part of a Facebook group called Bead Soup Cafe, every year Lori Anderson puts together an awesome blog party called The Bead Soup Blog Party

This year there are over 500 entries from all over the world. We are paired with a partner and we send each other a "soup" of beads. We then create pieces from those beads and reveal on our given dates.

We have to use the focal and the clasp, but we can use some of our own beads in the creation too.The sky is the limit!!!

This year my partner is Carmen from Little Maketto.

Here is a wee sneak peak of the soup I sent Carmen...

And here is what she sent me....

Look at all the interesting beads and colours...

 The focal and clasp
mixing the soup....

Stay tuned for the reveal next month.... until then I'm going to have so much fun creating.

Take care everyone,
