Fabric Candle Votives

 Hi Everyone,

The days are growing shorter and there is a definite chill in the air - yup Winter is on its way and I'm not a happy Winter person.

The other day it was dark and dreary and I needed to cheer myself up a bit so I made these cute little candle votives.

Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures while I was creating them but they are so simple to make.

I used some baby food jars that I found in the back of my cupboard, double sided craft tape and fabric... I also added a button threaded onto memory wire to add an extra fun element.....

Doesn't this fabric make you happy?

I love it - and will be making a table runner out of it soonish...

So literally all I did.... cut out a piece of fabric, add tape to the back and stick onto the jar. Thread a button onto wire and wrap around..... How simple was that???

And look how fab they are.....

Pop in a tea light candle and they are gorgeous, lit up at night......

They make me smile, sitting up on the kitchen window sill....

And they definitely did a great job of cheering me up on that dreary Autumn day.

Take Care

Pinterest Craft Challenge

Hi Everyone,

Okay so I know I've been quiet lately and to be honest I've lacked a bit of motivation too.

I have a few unfinished projects lying around and of course I have been nursing Gabriel and his broken leg as well as caring for the girls and general household chores.

So... I needed some inspiration to get my creative mojo back on track. I decided to have a look at my Pinterest Boards to get a few ideas and set myself a Pinterest Challenge...

Some of the crafts are very basic and super easy fun - I need these for the day's when I don't have much time or energy..

Let me show you my picks to keep me going for the next little while...

I love these hair ties - I have fabric so I'll just need to get a few recoverable buttons and ties.
Don't you think they are fab and so easy? What a great gift idea too...

I have heaps of jars... heaps!!! And aren't these super cute? And you know how I love jars...

I made a few sparkly hanging bead creations years ago - and they always look so fantastic - so I'm going to try them again...

Don't you just love these shelves? I only have 1 box on hand that I can use - and I'm going to give it a go...

I love this "Scrapbook" look and I have just the frame too....

How gorgeous is this magazine rack?
I have a wooden one that I'm not using and was thinking of doing something similar to it and using it on our desk for the kids' homework....

I have frames! I have wire and pegs!!!! I'm totally doing this asap!

At the moment I'm really liking the decorating with newspaper look!!! One of my unfinished projects could definitely work using this idea....

So what do you all think?

This should keep me busy for awhile, right?

Take care and thanks for stopping by

Butterfly Creek

Hi Everyone,

Payton's Kindergarten went on a fab trip to Butterfly Creek yesterday.

Unfortunately I couldn't go as a parent helper because Sean was on a course at work and Gabe has a broken leg . The lovely Jo (Bella's mum) has very kindly said I could use the photographs she took.

Butterfly Creek is an amazing place to visit - we have been a few times as a family and each time has been awesome.

There is a tropical Butterfly House, Insect displays, Petting Zoo, Children's Playground, the Red Admiral Express Steam Train and the Salt Water Crocodiles - a huge favourite with the kids.

I hope you enjoyed the sneak peak into one of Auckland's best attractions.

Take care, and a huge thank you to everyone for your kind messages for Gabe, they are gratefully received. I will keep you updated

Mail / Stationary Organiser

Hi Everyone,

I did this little makeover ages ago so its about time I shared it with you.

I only remembered to take a before picture once I started to paint, so forgive the lack of a good "before"

I have had this little stationary/mail organiser for years.

I thought the dolphins were a little dated and I was looking for a little project to do, as I had some paper scraps I wanted to use up.

I painted the wooden organiser white and covered the surfaces with different but slightly coordinating papers. I think I did about 3 layers of modge and a coat of satin varnish.

I was going to use it as a spot to stack the bills and incoming mail...

Sean decided on a more manly use for it......

Quite sweet, don't you think?

Till next time, take care
