Turquoise and Red Bracelet

Hi Everyone,

Today I want to share this simple "eternity" inspired bracelet.

It is so, so easy to make and your imagination can go wild with this little project....

Many years ago I had 3 elastic turquoise bracelets which eventually broke and I have had the beads saved for ages. A while back I made a mixed red and turquoise necklace that I ended up taking apart as I didn't like it so much.

But I did (and still do) like this colour combination - it goes really well with denium and white.

Okay, so all you need are beads, crimps, a clasp or toggle and nylon line.

Thread 2 lines of beads...

Bend one line in half and secure the ends - I used a crimp then threaded over it to disguise the end. Secure to your clasp during this step.

Do the same with the second line remember to loop it through the first line of beads - as in the pic below

Here is what it looks like on...

Super easy, right?

Take care, till next time...

Wicker Chest Rescue

 Hi Everyone,

This post comes with a WARNING! - Some truly awful pictures

You may need to look away at some point....

BUT I'm hoping you will think that this was a true little rescue....

This is the poor victim..... (its not pretty!)

I got her from a thrift shop for $12 - what a sorry state.... (look away if you need to...really, I wont hold it against you)

The chest sat in my room hidden from all, while I contemplated what to do with it. I threw some junk into it and with more junk balanced on top - I totally forgot about it

An inside view

So - the kids have many, many, many toys.

Our home is tiny  - there is literally no space with 5 of us in a 2 bedroom house, so storage is  hugely important....

This is the play area..... All the stuff that doesn't fit into the toy cupboard is "neatly" packed along the wall.....
Most Some of the time.

But generally the space looks like this

And occasionally like a toy store threw up..... (Look away quick - its not good)

I had been asking Sean to save me from losing it all together, and to build a toy box.
But we just never seemed to get around to it.

Last week I spotted the poor sad wicker chest and thought I might try convert it to a toy box.....

I took the lid off (to be used in another project) - primed and painted it white.

Looking better already and no nasty musty smell either...

I knew I wanted the chest to fit in with the beachy theme, so my brainwave was to do a "little stencil"

Ha - well that didn't work....

I had to repaint !

Then after thinking on it for a day or so I came up with this.....

Now the play area looks like this, and has stayed pretty much like this for a week... (Okay you can look again.... its good)

A before and after....

What do you all think? Was it good rescue?

 Thanks for stopping by...

Side Table Makeover

This week I tried a new technique and Im hoping you like the end result as much as I do. I know it wont be to everyone's taste and to be honest I wasn't too sure myself at first but now I'm hooked.

This side table has literally stood next to my sofa exactly like this for the last 5 years! The basket holds all kinds of nappy changing items as this spot is where I have been changing nappies on the floor forever.....

Poor little table - time for a makeover....

Sean did the initial sanding to get the old varnish off.

I painted the entire table white, once dry I painted each surface a different colour.

Then another 2 coats of white

Sean loaded sand paper onto the sander for me and and I got to work....

Have a little look....

Sean replaced the drawer pull with a handle that I've had lurking around for years.

I gave her a couple of coats of satin varnish

Oh No!!!! The basket was not working with that colour....

So a quick coat of white paint later and my basket was transformed...

So, so, so much better.....

 Don't you think?

Now I need to tackle that wooden chest.....

A before and after.....

The total cost of this project was $0 as I had all the materials on hand already.  A totally worthwhile makeover at that cost!

Im really loving it - so fresh and clean....

Thanks for stopping by, let me know what you all think....
