My Judo Star

It's taken my Gabe years to decide what sport he would like to participate in, so when he came home from school one day and said he would like to try Judo - we were really excited!

Finally...

He has been for about 6 sessions which are held after school during the week....He has just thrown himself, literally into his sport and can take down his sister like a pro already!

So when I picked him up after training on Thursday he surprised me with this star of the day medal...Wow, wow, wow... to say I am a proud mum is an understatement..

He gets to keep it for a whole week...

Check out the grin on his face - he couldn't wait to show his daddy who has a First Dan Black in Karate.

So, so proud and excited for my gorgeous boy.

Turquoise Tile Pendant

Hey Everyone,

For those that missed it - I shared this Tile Pendant over at DK's Craft Cafe last week.

This is such a simple tutorial and I'm hoping you are inspired to make your own. I found this gorgeous tile pendant in the jewellery section of Spotlight and I just love turquoise so had to buy it.

What you will need:

A tile or decorative bead, 3 charms or smaller beads, a headpin, jump rings and long nose pliers.

What you need to do: (following the pics)

Gather all the components.

Snip the end off the head pin as you will be looping both ends of it.

Form a loop by first bending the end of the pin at a 90 degree angle then looping the pin back onto itself - this forms a really neat loop.

Pass the pin through the tile and repeat the loop at the other end.

Using jump rings, secure the smaller beads or charms to one end of the looped head pin.

Attach the pendant to a chain using another jump ring.

Seriously how easy is that?

I love how this necklace turned out, and as I used a copper chain and accents along with the turquoise, it has a real beachy vibe to it

Heart Canvas Art

Hey Everyone,

I really need to apologise for the shocking quality of these photos and the lack of a "how to".

I think I was so excited to be doing this little makeover that I totally forgot to take photos...

Anyway moving right along..... I had this canvas above the dining table - I think I'm kinda done with Frangipani flowers in the living area.

I knew I needed some art in our bedroom as the walls are pretty bare.

The "theme" for our bedroom is hearts and when I made over the toy test into a cupboard and used a stencil type stamp on the front door - I decided to use the same heart to stamp onto the canvas.

This is where I stopped taking photos!!

So pretend you are following me when I say all I did was tape sections of the canvas using the blocks already on it for a guideline. Painted each section and then stamped the heart in a contrasting colour on to each section.

Ta-daaaa!

Then no matter how many photos I took of the canvas up on the wall I could NOT get a good picture.

So out of sheer frustration - I'm letting it go and saying - trust me, it looks really good in our room
