Hi Everyone,
This post comes with a WARNING! - Some truly awful pictures
You may need to look away at some point....
BUT I'm hoping you will think that this was a true little rescue....
This is the poor victim..... (its not pretty!)
I got her from a thrift shop for $12 - what a sorry state.... (look away if you need to...really, I wont hold it against you)
The chest sat in my room hidden from all, while I contemplated what to do with it. I threw some junk into it and with more junk balanced on top - I totally forgot about it
An inside view |
So - the kids have many, many, many toys.
Our home is tiny - there is literally no space with 5 of us in a 2 bedroom house, so storage is hugely important....
This is the play area..... All the stuff that doesn't fit into the toy cupboard is "neatly" packed along the wall.....
But generally the space looks like this
And occasionally like a toy store threw up..... (Look away quick - its not good)
I had been asking Sean to save me from losing it all together, and to build a toy box.
But we just never seemed to get around to it.
Last week I spotted the poor sad wicker chest and thought I might try convert it to a toy box.....
I took the lid off (to be used in another project) - primed and painted it white.
Looking better already and no nasty musty smell either...
I knew I wanted the chest to fit in with the beachy theme, so my brainwave was to do a "little stencil"
Ha - well that didn't work....
I had to repaint !
Then after thinking on it for a day or so I came up with this.....
Now the play area looks like this, and has stayed pretty much like this for a week... (Okay you can look again.... its good)
A before and after....
What do you all think? Was it good rescue?
Thanks for stopping by...
