I know its Winter here, but my kids will eat ice-cream any chance they can.
They love the stuff. It barely lasts a couple of days in our house and its not the cheapest or healthiest after-dinner treat. And to be honest my 3 are pretty fussy eaters to start off with, so I struggle to get "healthy" food into them on a daily basis..
I have been making these homemade treats for a while and the kids still love them. You can use any fruit, milk or yoghurt.
All you need is a cup of milk, 2 individual size tubs of yoghurt and 1 - 2 banana's. And a popsicle set.
Blend all the ingredients till smooth
This mixture makes approx 8 servings. I have 2 popsicle sets so I make double.
Freeze overnight and they are ready.
They are really creamy and yummy, and I'm back to square one of trying to get them to last a few days..
I love this shot that I took against the winter sun pouring in through the kitchen window... Reminds me of Summer.
I sure hope you try out this easy recipe - healthy and delicious.

ReplyDeleteNoooooo....cos now I'm totally going to do this tomorrow when I make some more!!!!
DeletePamela, my oldest, just came over while I was reading this and declared that "we've got to make those" Guess I better go buy a popsicle mold.
ReplyDeleteYay Heather - yes the popsicle moulds are just the best espcially in summer - I make up juice and just freeze it, then the kids have ice lollies and its refreshing and healthy. I also made this using frozen berries too, including the banana which makes it creamy. Let me know how they turn out xxx
DeleteThanks for the tip, gonna try it with my ladies! They seem to eat things they are involved in making. Then it will be..."Are they ready to eat yet?" "What about now?" "How long will it take till I can have one?" "Can I check to see if they froze?" Any advice in that area? :-)
ReplyDeleteThese are really great and they freeze pretty quickly too
DeleteHa! I just made those for my kids yesterday!! Oh, Nat, we are so meant to meet eachother! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat minds link alike Leanne lol xxx
DeleteOooh! You are sneaky. They look decadent but they're actually totally healthy. I need to pass this along to my sister for her kids for sure. So glad you linked up at Etcetorize this week~
ReplyDeleteHehe - yup sneaky!!!!
DeleteI just use tins of diced pineapple or strawberries in syrup or fruit salad. The fruit salad tastes like lemonade and the pineapple just like frujus and the strawberry ones are really light and refreshing. I dish out all the fruit then add about 1/4 cup of water tothe juice and then top them up in the moulds - we have the same containers as you Nat and fill up 2 and even 3 at the height of summer - they work out so cheap and easy - I have also done strawberry and choc milk ones yum yum
ReplyDeleteOoh these sound great - I'm going to have to try the fruit ones. I do the choc ones too . Yum
