Painted Jars - Inspired by the Beach

Hi Everyone,

You know how there are heaps of painted bottles and jars all over the blogosphere? Well I just love them!!!! And I love jars so you know I just had to give it a go!

I also wanted to create something "beachy" to fit in with my decor. Now that we are heading into the darkness of Winter (sob), I wanted a reminder of summer. So my jars are beach inspired....

What I did???
Take a jar (any jar) and pour paint into it.
Swirl the paint around until the glass is evenly coated and decant the rest back into the paint container.
Allow to dry overnight
I decorated my jars with beads and raffia, anything that looked like it would work....

And there you have a cool beach inspired jar!
The colours I used were turquoise, white and yellow. The turquoise and yellow - I mixed with a little white to give it a "milky" appearance......

I am super happy with them and have plans to convert many more of my jars....

Now to find a sun filled spot to display them...

Thanks for stopping by

xxx

  16. I bought two vases today and I was going to do a Google search to find out how to colour them. They were selling purple glass vases but they were double the price. We are building a house so this way I'll get to colour them the colours I want. Now to decide on what colours to choose. I hope it doesn't get to cold in Auckland. I've been on the look out for blogers from New Zealand, it makes me feel at home looking at your blog. Thanks for the tutorial.

    1. HI Megan - so glad you like the jars - I hope you try this technique - let me know how you get on. Getting pretty chilly at the moment - its gonna be a cold winter. Its not so much the cold but the constant damp which is awful and the kids get so sick.
Thanks for popping by and hope to hear from you again xx Nat

  18. Natalie I found your blog thru another one, don't remember which now, been hopping all over today.
Love, love your jars. I'm so aggravated with myself as my husband hauled off a whole barrel of jars finally after sitting on side of house for a year (maybe). We are responsible recyclers so hubby decided to take them to recyclers in next town, darn, darn. Wouldn't you know that's when I started to see all these awesome jar projects. Ah well will have to collect more I guess. No jar will go un-reused.
How I would so love to be able to visit you. I love to travel and am so curious about other places and people. I have been so happy to see so many young women crafting, re-doing and sewing since I started blog hopping and discovering so many incredible blogs.
I have subscribed to your blog so I'll be visiting you often. I'm a senior citizen that has been crafting and sewing since I was a kid. If I don't have a project to or thinking of ones I can do I feel adrift.
I don't have a blog as I don't have a way to show anybody what I do, hopefully someday. Happy Day
