Hi everyone,
I wanted to share my latest project today...
We put more cube shelves together since the other ones worked so well.
If you missed that post you can read about that here
cube shelves from here |
This is what the corner of our sitting room looked like (pics taken over Christmas.... can you tell?)
Crappy laminated bookshelves stacked on top of my wooden chest. Nothing coordinating, it was a dumping ground mostly for Sean's computer stuff. And it housed the kids library.... and all our photo albums.....It has bugged me for AGES...
So I made a few changes in the kids' room and now the bookcase sits on their dresser and they can read whenever they want.....
I rushed off to The Warehouse and bought 3 sets of the cheap 3 tier bookshelves and set the boys to work (can never train them to young huh?). Seriously.... I'm so proud of Gabe - he helped Sean really well and unsupervised for the most part.....
Wood glue and a few extra screws later and we have a super cool shelving unit.....yay!!!
I've decided to keep the wooden chest its natural colour for the time being, luckily it has nothing of interest in it as I don't fancy moving those shelves every time I need something out of it.....
Of course it will always be a work in progress.....
A closer look at a few of my treasures.....
The glass vase was given to me by Sean's grandmother when we were first married and the seabird has survived many, many years in the bathroom where it was hardly noticed. Now it has a new home.....
The polystyrene balls - I painted white and rolled in epsom salts to give them a bit of bling...
The little clock faces are from scrapbook paper modged onto round wooden coasters.....
This collection was originally housed on my other cube shelf unit, but works better here...
The white fish was originally picked up at a flea market and was brightly coloured....
These 2 shelves are in the process of being re-arranged at the moment....
I do love jars filled with interesting things.....
My forever sign and fab find candlestick as well as my very special temperature gauge that Sean bought for me 9 years ago (yup I still remember when...) are sitting on the top of the unit... still thinking what to do on the top....
I even made a little spot for Sean's laptop and the basket holds his computer bits so that I don't have to continuously nag remind him to put things away...
Another look at a before and after of our living room corner....
Looking so much better don't you think??
Thanks for stopping by,
